FITNESS CLASSES AT HUMAN SERVICES AEROBICS & WEIGHT TRAINING CLASSES Days: Tuesday’s and Thursday’s Time: 11:30 am – 12:30 pm Location: Human Services gymnasium Fitness Instructor Lee McCaffrey is very popular with her students and keeps everyone moving to music at a “go at your own pace” work-out for the first ½ hour. The ½ hour is devoted to weight bearing exercises which will be done sitting down or standing. Please bring hand weights to the class with you. If you like more information or have questions please call (508) 336-8772. “MOVE IT OR LOST IT” Days: Monday’s and Friday’s Time: 10:00 am – 11:00 am Location: Human Services Senior fitness instructor Connie Barlow gives an excellent work-out which includes aerobics, chair and floor exercises with mats and weights. Weights are provided for you, but please bring your own mat. If you have any questions, please call (508) 336-8772. All ages are welcome to attend these classes. We have a great group that have been together for several years, who are getting into shape by lowering their blood pressure, keeping their weight down and in general improving their health. Both instructors keep their classes interesting and are always enthusiastic. Why not give yourself a gift by improving your health this year. You are welcome to come out and observe a class if you are unsure whether you will be able to participate in the work-out. All ages are presently attending, from the 50’s to the 80’s. ARTS & CRAFTS YARN DONATIONS The Knitters at Seekonk Human Services would like donations of yarn so that they can continue to “Knit For The Needy” (babies and the elderly). You may drop off the yarn at Seekonk Human Services or someone can pick it up if you are unable to bring it to the Center. CHEF ON A SHOESTRING Days: Tuesday’s Time: 1:30 pm – 3:00 pm Location: Seekonk Human Services What a popular class this has been! Student chefs from Johnson & Wales University will be demonstrating wonderful recipes each week and you get to take home a sample from each class. Each recipe is prepared while you watch. TRIAD What is TRIAD? It is a partnership of law enforcement agencies and the seniors in the community that work together to reduce the criminal victimization of the elderly. TRIAD’S purpose is to educate and assist the elderly in order to reduce their fears and provide moral support. They also provide a forum for law enforcement and the community to share needs and concerns. It involves the police, fire and sheriff’s department with the seniors in the community to develop and implement community solutions. WOMEN’S MONTHLY BREAKFAST – “Make a Connection” Takes place on the first Wednesday of every month. Time: 8:30 a.m. Location: Bickford’s Restaurant in Seekonk. You could meet some new friends and reconnect with some old ones. You may bring a friend or family member; ALL AGES ARE WELCOME. ART THERAPY CLASSES Seniors Days: Tuesday’s Time: 9:00 am – 11:00 am Location: Human Services – Community Room This is an 8 weeks course Class size is limited Art Instructor – Phyllis Corbitt If you always had the desire to learn to paint, and thought you would never have the opportunity, you should consider signing up for these classes. Even if you have never picked up a paintbrush in your life, you will leave the class with a painting. Who knows, you may discover a new and relaxing hobby. INTERGENERATION ART CLASSES Days: Tuesday’s Classes Time: 11:30 am – 1:00 pm Thursday’s Classes Time: 9:30 am – 11:00 am Location: Human Services – Community Room These classes are comprised of students from area schools and senior citizens from Seekonk, who have a love of children and art. Class size is extremely limited and each senior that is chosen for this class must enjoy working with children. Each one that participates in this class will work on their own painting as well as helping the students with theirs. CARD GAMES BRIDGE Bridge continues at the Seekonk Human Services on Thursday afternoons from 12:30 PM - 2:30 PM.
