The Town Clerk’s Office issues marriage licenses for marriages performed in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts. Marriage licenses are good for two months. There is a three-day mandatory waiting period after an application is filed until the license can be issued. The only document required is your drivers license. Only couples marrying in Massachusetts should obtain a Massachusetts marriage license. Couples obtain their license in the state where the ceremony takes place.
